About Me: Shiitake Products and Gaming With the Fam

Hey there, I'm Rod—a 40-year-old married father of two incredible kids, "The Girl" (aged 11) and "The Boy" (aged 9). While my wife doesn't share our passion for video games, my family's gaming adventures have become a cherished part of our lives.

 

What Inspired Me:

My journey into the gaming world began when I was just six years old, with my first Nintendo console, where I battled my way through the Mushroom Kingdom in "Super Mario Bros." and honed my sharpshooting skills in "Duck Hunt." Since those early days, my love for gaming has only grown stronger.

 

Recently, my son and I embarked on a thrilling project called "Dad and the Boy Plays." Together, we explore various video games and share our gaming experiences. This journey felt like a natural progression and an opportunity to offer insights into parenting a gaming-centric child.

 

Favorite Games and Platforms:

While my gaming roots trace back to classics like QuakeWorld Team Fortress (QWTF) and Counter-Strike, my family's gaming landscape has evolved. We now find ourselves engrossed in titles like Fortnite, Rocket League, and Destiny 2, primarily on our trusty PlayStation 4 (we haven't upgraded to the 5 just yet). Fortnite holds a special place in our hearts—it's our go-to game for quality bonding time.

 

My daughter, "The Girl," has her gaming preferences too. She enjoys diving into the imaginative worlds of Roblox and simulation games, although she leans more towards solo role-playing adventures.

 

Why I Started This Blog:

Passing down my passion for gaming to my kids has been a joy. My son, in particular, has been persistently nudging me to set up a YouTube channel. I've seen the YouTube channels he watches and felt it was essential to be a part of his creative journey. Together, we're diving into the exciting world of content creation, learning the ropes side by side.

 

What to Expect from This Blog:

Expect randomness. You see, I have ADHD, so focusing on one topic isn't always my strong suit. However, I can promise you this blog will revolve around the wonderful intersection of family and gaming, and everything that unfolds between those two worlds. No subject is off-limits.

While we might not claim to be the best gamers out there, we have a blast, and that's what truly matters. We're genuine, kind-hearted individuals who embrace creativity.
